It was just too mediocre to inspire following up the series as new Harry Potter books came out. Although I'm still a sucker for great children's works at times, something also seemed grotesque about the extraordinary mass support for mediocre fables in what has been a politically corrupt and vacuous era. Imagine how little it surprised me, as gradually it became apparent just how self-centered, greedy and manipulative its author was.
