Beyond excessive at the time, out-of-date now, the story of riding a recumbent while entirely wired to satellite feeds, etc. was truly inspiring. It doesn't have the same raw courage as the British school marm who ripped all the gears off her 3-speed and spun through the Himalays of course, but the idea of a high-tech nomad who is both free and connected indefinitely had high appeal at a certain time.
Last I knew, many years ago, the writer had a very dusty workshop with an unfinished submersible version, which he planned to ride thoughout the world's waterways if the funding ever came through. Some dreams can only be lived once in exactly the same way.
